Our in-house design team is where the magic happens – we like to call it. Our designers have impeccable taste, and we proudly deliver quality craftsmanship on every project we undertake.
With that being said, we would love to introduce you to one of the talented interior designers on Team Titus, Ksusha Olson.
Let’s get into the Q&A!
Q: How did you get into interior design?
Ksusha: Although newer to professional design, I have always had a passion for it. My mom – closet designer – introduced me to design at an early age. Our favorite pastime was going to interior design stores and looking at tile, wallpaper, furniture, etc. She taught me to pay attention to colors, patterns, shapes, and the importance of balance and function. Even though I received a completely unrelated degree in college, I kept the passion going through designing, renovating my family rental properties, and helping my friends and family with their design needs. Three years ago, my lifelong dream came true when I landed a job with a kitchen and bath design studio in Duluth, MN. At Hemma, I was introduced to the world of kitchen and bath design, with all its specifics and challenges. I got to work alongside and learn from very talented designers, which helped me grow into the designer I am today.
Q: What are your strengths as an interior designer?
Ksusha: I believe my strengths lie in space planning and figuring out all of the details. I love digging into the nitty gritty and making sure every inch and angle is perfect and double checked so there are no unexpected errors on my end. I also believe I am very strong in my 3D modeling and rendering skills in Chief Architect.
Q: What does the client journey mean to you?
Ksusha: To say it simply – a happy client! Whatever happiness means for each person. As designers, we get the privilege of working with a variety of people with different personalities and needs in terms of design help. Two questions that come to my mind often are…Are they going to have a beautiful, transformed space at the end of the journey – absolutely! Are they going to be happy with the process? These results, on many levels, depend on me! My job is to listen to my client and recognize what it is that is going to make them happy. Are they busy professionals that need me to completely take over, or do they want to be included in the process? Do they need more time to get comfortable with the new design before they commit to the project? Reading and truly listening to the client makes for a happy ending!
Q: What is your favorite part of design?
Ksusha: My favorite part is presenting the concept and showing the client their design in 3D on our big screen TV in the showroom. I love to see their faces light up when they see their updated space for the first time! They fall in love – if we listened well – and cannot unsee They take home 3D images of their spaces and share them with their families. They stay excited throughout the rest of the process because they have tangible proof that no matter what happens during the journey, it will be worth it in the end!
That’s a wrap! If you’re considering a home upgrade this year, Ksusha and Team Titus would love to work with you to remove much of the stress and ensure your project is in capable hands every step of the way.
